    The Company

    My client is a global leader in digital and mobile advertising technology, who are focused on maximizing ad revenue for digital media companies on any digitally connected screen. They work with some of the best known brands in the industry, and their vision as a company is to unleash the full potential of digital media companies.

    They provide a unique Software as a Service (SAAS) platform that combines ad serving, a top tier ad exchange, a Supply Side Platform (SSP), along with mobile inventory solutions. They are based in Pasadena, CA and are backed by prominent investors.

    The Role

    My client is seeking a head of Platform Demand business development, sales, and account management. Reporting to the Vice President, Platform Demand, this role is focused on delivering new demand and growing existing demand for the ad exchange from demand-side platforms and ad networks throughout the EMEA region. This is an opportunity for a senior leader to drive the monetization of digital inventory from our publishers during a critical inflection point in the industry for advertising automation, private marketplaces, viewability, and programmatic direct buying across all screens and formats.    

    Primary responsibilities are to expand the demand presence across the digital advertising landscape, provide leadership and career development to demand teams, be an innovative industry leader, and drive preference for the platform with business, product, and technology customer stakeholders. A balance of strategic selling, client services and operational skills is required. The person will be expected to contribute heavily to the company’s overall strategy and product offerings. This opportunity is tailor made for a senior individual with a balance of media and technology aptitudes, while having a strong passion for leading teams and automating advertising at a large scale.    

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accelerate demand for the platform, inventory and services, including an ad exchange, SSP, private marketplaces, and emerging offerings such as programmatic direct

    • Lead Demand business development and account management teams

    • Meet and exceed quarterly revenue targets, business KPIs and strategic objectives

    • Act as a primary business owner for buy-side products, collaborating with the MD EMEA and Product leads for Monetization and Mobile to ensure that relevant current and future buyer needs are met

    • Gather feedback and study the market to identify potential business opportunities and partnerships, then drive the negotiation and execution of deals with those partners

    • Partner with the Marketing and Communications teams to develop sales and marketing materials, industry events strategy, thought leadership pieces and other marketing and communications programs

    • Represent the client to the buyer community through speaking and panel participation at industry events, writing articles for key publications, and membership in associations and committees


    • BS/BA degree; MBA desired

    • At least 10 years experience in a sales or business development role selling online advertising or digital technology to agencies, advertisers, ad networks, DSPs or similar clients at a senior level

    • Proven track record of prospecting, pitching and closing opportunities and exceeding sales targets

    • Extensive network of senior contacts at trading desks, digital agencies and platform buyers

    • Strong people management experience with geographically dispersed teams and multiple reporting levels

    • Deep understanding of the online ad industry, advertising technology and major trends

    • Preferred: Experience executing campaigns through optimization-oriented buying platforms, using both first- and third-party audience data, and prior experience with ad operations
